Studio Lighting with Off-Camera Flash

We reproduce studio lighting at home with off-camera flash. Currently our setup is a cloth backdrop with two umbrella stands, and the off-camera flashes are two Nissin Air Commander with Di700A for Sony.

A simple one-light setup is easy to do and results in a classic look, especially when combined with a black backdrop.

We use a second umbrella stand to create different looks. You can see the second light source shining on the hair or reflected in the eyes.

Nice pictures! love the simple light set up. What aperture & shutter speed do you shoot this pictures in?

  2. Hi Gus, thank you! For most of these photos we shot at F2.8 or F4, at between 1/125th to 1/200th of a second, ISO 100.
